Couples Therapy - Sex & Intimacy
Clients:
James (33, web developer)
Amelia (34, dietician)
Together three years.
Issue:
Both James and Amelia felt there wasn't enough sex or intimacy in their relationship. Things had been getting worse in this area of their life, and it was a topic that they were finding hard to talk about. This problem was also affecting their closeness as a couple in general.
How R&L Helped:
The Robertson & Ling counsellor helped James and Amelia to listen to and understand one another on the topic of sex and intimacy. This provided James and Amelia the opportunity to share their needs, and to voice what they felt was hindering their sexual relationship. This then paved the way for the couple to discuss how they could prioritise and improve their sexual relationship. The couple were relieved by this development, as they had not been able to have this conversation previously.
The Robertson & Ling counsellor also worked through a number of strategies and interventions to help the couple improve their connection and closeness outside the bedroom.
After six sessions, both James and Amelia had noticed a positive shift in their sexual relationship, and were feeling more content with how things were going. There was also increased closeness and connection in the relationship - Amelia in particular was noticing how this was helping their sex life.
